Ok it’s time for the Image of the Week!

Justice for Ezell - Image By Red Iris Studios

This weeks image is from a large demonstration against police brutality at L.A. police headquarters on 8-17-2014 for Ezell Ford, Omar Abrego & Ferguson Solidarity.

This was part of a vast national response in 37 cities to The Ferguson, Missouri shooting of 18 year old Michael Brown. Citing LA’s own tragic losses and police abuse of Ezell Ford, Omar Abrego, Damon Jackson and Barry Montgomery the streets hosted this wildcat march which took over the streets demanding justice for the unjustified killigs.

Ezell Ford was a 25 year old unarmed mental-challenged back man who was shot to death while laying face-down in the back by the LAPD during an investigative stop.

“They laid him out and for whatever reason, they shot him in the back, knowing mentally, he has complications. Every officer in this area, from the Newton Division, knows that — that this child has mental problems,” he said. “The excessive force … there was no purpose for it. The multiple shootings in the back while he’s laying down? No. Then when the mom comes, they don’t try to console her … they pull the billy clubs out.” – Said Ezell Ford’s Cousin

I took many amazing photos that day but have only been able to edit this one photo which was the first picture request I had received from the courageous woman featured in this image.
